BeyondCov

"BEYOND THE LIGHT" enlarges and expands the entire field of near-death studies, introducing the most in-depth investigation yet of the far-reaching impact and surprising dynamics of near-death states. Comprehensive, it is based on over 3,000 interviews with near-death survivors over a sixteen-year period. Adults and children are covered, 20% from the black race, many foreign countries represented. Revealed are the four types of near-death experiences along with a basic profile of who tends to have which type, investigations of near-death-like episodes and other anomalies, the full range of psychological and physiological aftereffects, "the light" of enlightenment, revelations that near-death survivors bring back from the other side of death's curtain, plus a host of startling new material on topics like electrical sensitivity, black angels, and brain shift. Protocol for nurses, emergency crews, and health-care providers who suspect their patient might be having a near-death experience. Section on Spiritual Emergence/Emergencies, Research Methodologies, and extensive Resource Section.

Author Note: I advance here what I have noticed since beginning my investigations of near-death states in 1978. . . that the near-death experience, along with other types of consciousness transformations, are really a "brain shift." I identify brain shift as a structural, chemical, and functionary change that appears to occur in experiencer brains afterward (whether partial or more complete). Implications explored.

"I had tears in my eyes at your dedication. Your impetus for research was high drama. Your years of relentless research are a magnificent offering to the general public at this evolutionary period in history. Your data is mind-boggling. Your own experiences, the most revelatory of all. Your skill in organization of material defies description. Your reference materials are incredible in scope. This book has set you as the top authority on the NDE and similar experiences, their aftereffects, and meanings. You have turned physiology, psychology, psychiatry, psychoanalysis, upside down. Your final standpoints are backed with such data that no one can contest them, while, at the same time, you have set the challenge for further research.
Martena Sasnett, Retired Educator of International Scope

Almost all of the experiencers that I know either have received support or validation from your work, and/or from you personally. You have made and continue to make phenomenal contributions to humanity and our future consciousness."
Cynthia Johnson

"Atwater's insights and predictions about the nature of the near-death experience came years before the hard medical research that backed them up. She is among this field's best researchers. She skillfully combines science, religion, metaphysics, and her own observations; synthesizing the entire field."
Melvin Morse, M.D.

"Fascinating to read, this brilliant analysis of a controversial subject displays an extraordinary intelligence, knowledge, and intuitive insight. Atwater gives us a sober, objective look at the near-death phenomenon, tempered by the subjective and sympathetic understanding of one who has been there and experienced it. A rare combination in any field. Atwater challenged many a prejudice I held against this whole subject, and, if heard, could lift this issue into the clear realm of a scientific objectivity that could revolutionize our concepts of self and world. I can't praise the work highly enough."
Joseph Chilton Pearce

"BEYOND THE LIGHT is an extremely thought-provoking book. P.M.H.Atwater is a bold trailblazer who explores many previously neglected aspects of the near-death experience and attempts to place them in a challenging and illuminating perspective."
Robert L. Van de Castle, Ph.D.

"In addition to a number of provocative case histories gleaned from her extensive research into the near-death experience, in her current work, BEYOND THE LIGHT, P.M.H.Atwater has also provided us with the most complete resource book currently available for those who have become NDE experiencers."
Brad Steiger

"I cannot tell you how many near-death books I have read over the years, but this work by Mrs. Atwater is the pinnacle. And more than that, I found it EXCITING and INSPIRING reading! A real winner."
Rev. Douglas O. Lee

"After suffering the kind of dry, academic near-prissy prose ground out by most NDE writers, what a delight to savor a book with adrenalin, estrogen, and Tabasco coursing through its veins!"
Tam Mossman

"What Atwater has given us is a definitive study of NDEs (and related experiences) based on the anecdotal findings of almost 3,000 people. This kind of in-depth approach has only been previously used by Melvin Morse (who writes the introduction). Almost all other NDE accounts are far less analytical and wide ranging in scope. BEYOND THE LIGHT represents years of painstaking research and much personal sacrifice by Atwater. Her heart is in it, and it shows."
FATE Magazine

"Atwater's focus goes beyond the 'amazing-grace' NDE with its 'tunnel of light' to examine the anomalies, including hell-like visions and alien encounters. Like most who have experienced an NDE, Atwater has come away spiritually charged with a mission to share her perceptions and sensations. BEYOND THE LIGHT provides a fascinating glimpse at one of life's greatest unknowns."
Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.)

Please note: There has been a change to "Beyond the Light" in reference to Margaret Fields Kean and her work with "The Results System." (Paperback pages 252-253, Hardcover page 229.) There has been a change of address for author Kathy J. Forti, Ph.D., 12401 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 306, Los Angeles, CA 90025; (310) 709-7221; e-mail kjforti@aol.com

Margaret has now retired and closed the Smith Mountain Lake Retreat Center. Her work is now being carried out by Phil and Verna Seckman. The Results System, developed by Margaret as per what was revealed to her during her near-death experience, is especially geared to help those in the process of transformation integrate their aftereffects constructively. The process repatterns left and right brain hemispheres so each can work more harmoniously with the other. For information about classes and practitioners trained in the method, contact Phil and Verna Seckman, 333 Rolling Hill Road, Pamplin, VA 23958; (434) 248-5036 -or- Rev.
